Be Yourself – whoever you are…

At Virgin Atlantic, our purpose is to empower everyone to take on the world. Our vision is to be the most loved travel company. To achieve both, we focus on creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Where our people, customers, partners and communities are united, and diverse groups are represented. An environment that values and respects each individual’s unique identity and inspires pride in being part of the Virgin Atlantic family.

Are you ready to take on the world? Of course you are.

Be Yourself in action

Our ‘Be Yourself’ manifesto is at the heart of everything we do. We’ve always championed individuality at Virgin Atlantic, because we know difference is a strength. Because being brilliantly different is what we do. It’s who we are. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Scroll below to learn more about our people, policies and programmes.

Meet Justin

When he’s not taking the lead on customer service excellence as a Trainer for our Cabin Crew, he’s adding insight as a wonderful committee member of our VALUED network – ensuring our workplace is a diverse and fair as possible.

Our tattoo policy

We’ve always encouraged our people to bring their whole selves to work and take pride in what makes them special. Many have tattoos to reflect their unique identities. That’s why we’ve changed our policy on visible tattoos – becoming the first UK airline to allow them to show off their ink to the world when in uniform.

Gender identity

We’ve changed our uniform code to give our crew, pilots and ground teams the option to choose which one of our iconic Vivienne Westwood uniforms, best represents them. Our new uniform code reflects the diversity of our workforce and it’s complemented by the roll out of optional pronoun badges for our people and those travelling with us.

Meet Andrew

We’ve always championed individuality, and we want our people to bring their whole self to work and to the skies. So meet Andrew, active member of our internal Pride network and champion of LGBTQ+ inclusivity 365 days a year.

Wellbeing

We’re passionate about making where we work a great place to be and we know that when we are feeling our best, we are able to focus, deliver, innovate and go the extra mile. Our wellbeing programme ‘Working Well, Living Better’ focuses on three key areas of health: mental, physical and financial.

LGBTQ+ and our people

Throughout our history, we have established our purpose with the LGBTQ+ community and have long fought for global diversity & inclusion. We asked some of our internal LGBTQ+ network what Pride means to them and why representation is so important.

Our networks

Our four networks are employee led communities, each supported by their own executive ally. Our networks work together to raise awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion to ensure our people can connect, celebrate and support each other to create a culture where everyone feels they belong.

Our networks are open to everyone, whether you want to become an active ally, help plan events, or simply want to learn more and show your support.
