Why become an Engineering apprentice?

As a Level 3 Engineering apprentice you will enrol onto a 3-year training programme, the first 9 months will be based offsite in Gloucestershire with an industry leading training provider (it’s a long time to be away from home, so we provide you with stunning accommodation).

The programme gives apprentices the opportunity to gain an academic qualification alongside live exposure to an Engineering operation. In the latter stage of the programme, our experienced Engineering team will spend time mentoring our apprentices as they work out of our London Gatwick and London Heathrow operations.

What do our apprentices say?

We know apprenticeships are a great way to learn a new skill, within Virgin we have candidates who are also studying higher level role specific apprenticeships so we firmly believe they are for everyone. If the above hasn’t already convinced you, below gives you a flavour of what our apprentices think of our programmes.

Albie, Apprenticeships & Skills Manager

“My role is all about shaping the strategy for our apprenticeship programmes across the business, but I’m also an apprentice myself, studying for my CIPD. This means I get to live and breathe the experience and in turn, can ensure we do the best by our apprentices, and really provide a strong showcase for aviation apprenticeships”

Rebecca, Apprentice Engineering

“My current role is being an aircraft engineer apprentice for Virgin Atlantic Airways, joining the Virgin family and choosing to be an engineer was the best decision I’ve ever made. You will never find a company which supports or loves its employees just like Virgin Atlantic does. It would be a mistake not to accept a job for Virgin!”

Anthony, Apprentice Cabin Crew

“Our cabin crew group have built a great team, being from different backgrounds we are supporting each other especially when its comes to the exams. I’ve enjoyed completing the apprenticeship log, I’ve loved reflecting on what I’ve learnt. Taking my first trip to China has just added to my experience.”
