As a Senior Analyst Data Science & Operational Research, you will harness advanced data analysis, predictive modelling, and cutting-edge machine learning methodologies to deliver actionable insights that directly influence key business decisions.  

In this pivotal role, you will manage data science projects from inception to delivery, ensuring timely execution and clear, impactful communication with stakeholders. Your ability to present analytical findings and recommendations will help shape strategies across the organisation, driving tangible results.  

You will take ownership of gathering and preparing data from diverse sources, developing and maintaining robust data and ML pipelines that ensure the quality, consistency, and governance of our machine learning models. Your work will be crucial in generating actionable insights, developing interactive applications or ML engines, and continuously refining processes to enhance business decision support. 

Collaboration is key, and you will work alongside cross-functional teams to share knowledge, best practices, and mentor junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. By staying at the forefront of developments in data science, you’ll help Virgin Atlantic maintain its competitive edge and drive continuous improvement across all areas of the business.

  • Determine and implement data science and operational research strategies to optimize our business processes.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and modelling to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build high-impact data science applications – fundamentally optimising decisioning across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative solutions that enhance our operational efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of the most recent industry developments and effective approaches in data science and operational research.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management to drive informed decision-making.

  • Proven experience as a data scientist or operational researcher, with a strong track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex ideas to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Operational Research, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
