In a nutshell

Reporting to Security Manager, this position drives security relationships both internally and externally, ensuring Regulatory compliance and provision of timely Security guidance across the Business and Operational Network.


Day to day

The role has a global remit (within the current VAA Route chronology) ensuring that Virgin Atlantic is meeting its statutory, regulatory and legal requirements for Security Compliance.

The role requires the incumbent to provide tactical security advice and guidance to ensure compliance with the statutory and company security requirements.

Provision of specialist security support to protect VAA's personnel, assets and business operations.

Supporting effective security information management.

Security Investigations and establishment of root cause of security related events, providing mitigations and specialist guidance to enhance VAA Security Systems.

Ongoing monitoring of compliance standards and recommending appropriate security solutions to correct any shortfalls.

International Travel is required to maintain Security Compliance oversight of Critical vendors and if required Emergency Response in the event of Business incident.


About you

We’re seeking an experienced securities professional, with experience in the transport sector (ideally aviation)? If this sounds like you and you have the below skills/experience, we think you would love this role!

- Good working knowledge of corporate security practices and threat management, with a particular focus on the transport sector
- Clear understanding of Crew/Flight operating procedures and protocols
- An awareness of global security threats and risks
- Required to satisfactorily complete the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Level 3 5 day Training Course – renewable every three years
- Be capable of satisfying the requirements of HM Government’s SC level security clearance
- Complete the DfT’ s Threat Assessment Workbook
- Be capable of making dynamic security judgments linked to security threats and risks
- Effective communicator at all levels of the organisation
- Highly motivated, self-driven, confident individual requiring minimal supervision
- Able to confidently assess and evaluate operational situations to develop, implement and lead solutions
- Proactively identify issues before they develop
- Effective internal and external networking and relationship building, with strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Robust report writing and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel overseas
- Requirement to form part of a 24/7 on call scheme
- Track record of incident management
- Air4 systems knowledge
- Desirable – Border Security / Facilitation experience and knowledge
