In a nutshell

Have you ever wondered what is it like to work for an award-winning full-service airline, being part of a family that shares ambition, growth and creativity? Virgin Atlantic is part of the world’s largest transatlantic Joint Venture (JVs). We are on an ambitious journey of growth with an equity stake in Connect Airways, an ‘ever growing global network, and one of the youngest greenest aircraft in the sky. Every year we take more than 5 million customers on an exciting journey to more than 30 destination worldwide. The secret ingredient that makes this all possible? Our people: + 12,000 worldwide.

We will become UK’s flag carrier. To deliver on our promise to be the most loved travel company we need to refactor, optimise and advance our code. This will be delivered by a brand new Operations Decision Support (ODS) team. Their mission will be to develop a new set of tools using Operational Research, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced optimisations and simulations to resolve issues that concern our fleet, crew, ground services, network, competition and customer.

You can look forward to co-create with gate agents, cabin personnel and operations experts at VAA and other airlines. Close coordination with data scientists, operations research experts and engineers in an agile product team way of working is an integral part of your work. You will also coach your (Operations Research) team mates in the intricacies and standard methodologies of software engineering, CI/CD, API design, and more.
