In a nutshell
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Engineer - Technical Manuals, to join the Virgin Atlantic (VAA) Engineering team. You will be accountable for ensuring that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Maintenance Data, Virgin Atlantic Customised Supplementary Data and 3rd Party changes are maintained. Also responsible for 1) keeping them updated in accordance to ATA/EASA Part M and Part 21 requirements and 2) ensuring 3rd Party Design Organisation are in line with SLA’s for customers of Technical Information Services.
You will manage of a small team of Technical Publications Authors/Engineers and workload prioritisation to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Day to day
To author, edit, check, approve and publish Technical Manual Amendment’s (TMA’s) for VAA and 3rd Party organisations
Act as knowledge specialist’s on Technical Data related issues throughout VAA Engineering, support engineering projects through development to ‘go live’ and maintain the key focal for all engineers
Act as knowledge specialists for the departments applications and represent VAA at related Seminars and User Clubs
Ability to update and modify changes into the VAA customised data using the ADOC and Toolbox authoring software packages
Receive and validate 3rd party documentation from the Technical Library and/or Engineering Development and incorporate into the VAA Supplements as applicable
Report and manage discrepancies found in OEM technical data
Define and manage documentation for major VAA modification’s using 3rd party organisations
Manage and control AirN@v and Toolbox revisions for VAA Technical data
Ensure technical data is published and provisioned promptly for use to all end users using the OEM tools
Liaise with VAA IT, Airbus and Boeing to ensure 100% availability to all tools that support VAA Engineering
To produce SB reports using AirbusWorld and Boeing Toolbox applications
Coach and line manage a small team of Technical Publication Authors/Engineers ensuring objectives are set and monitored
We are looking for candidates who have a Technical Authorship experience and/or qualifications or equivalent. You’ll have direct or indirect line management experience of a small team. You’ll have detailed knowledge of OEM on-line systems/databases (ie: AirN@v, ADOC Web, AirbusWorld, MyBoeingFleet and Toolbox).
You’ll have a commercial working knowledge of the Aviation Industry, awareness of aircraft overhaul and maintenance programmes. Knowledge of principles of the use of Technical Manuals/documentation used within VAA Engineering would be an advantage.
In addition, you’ll need working knowledge of applications of content management systems and other IT packages associated with the role ie: Excel, Heritage, eMan, AirN@v, SharePoint, Ultramain and Toolbox. You’ll have the ability to represent VAA at Technical Symposiums, User Groups and Contractual reviews. You’ll have knowledge of Technical Library processes/procedures, iSpec 2200, S1000D & ATA standards.
