As part of Virgin Atlantic’s Delivery function this exciting Project Manager opportunity is accountable for the successful delivery of projects to time, cost and quality in a global environment.
Accountable for projects with a high worth value of up to £5m you will define the deliverables and appropriate delivery approach to meet the agreed business benefits, understanding and supporting the required business change, and ensuring that the project produces the required deliverables to the agreed standard of quality and within the agreed constraints of cost, risk and time.

Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Project Manager will be:

• Estimating and planning the project
o Review and understand the business case, producing well considered plans to outline the scope of the project, strategic objectives and also detailed project activity.
o Set the scope of work and targets for each workstream/team member and agree plans, ensuring all project deliverables are agreed.

• Effective project delivery
o Deliver the project activity, ensuring performance and expectations are clear to all involved and that the projects are delivered successfully, on time and on budget.
o Adhere to the VAA Project Management methodology during the project lifecycle
o Ensure Support teams implement changes effectively
o Ensure projects are successfully transitioned into BAU support with appropriate artifacts being provided and change controls adhered to

• Stakeholder and supplier relationships
o Identify key stakeholders at the start of the project lifecycle and create a stakeholder management plan which identifies how and when to engage the relevant parties
o Manage the expectations of the stakeholders during the project, highlighting any variances to the original plan and escalating these as needed
o Ensure the business area / department are effectively prepared for the changes being delivered and business processes are implemented/adjusted accordingly and training delivered to facilitate successful delivery

• Project control and compliance
o Maintaining a ‘Risks and Issues’ log ensuring that appropriate items are captured and identify mitigating actions, ensuring their resolution
o Management and control of the project finances by measuring and tracking against the allocated project budget, reconciling the spend versus budget on a monthly basis
o Working in conjunction with the Value Stream Lead to establish measures that would be effective in articulating and measuring the business benefits of the successful project delivery.
o Ensure proposed changes are assessed for their effect on the project and any impacts
o Work closely with the appropriate members of the project Management Office (ePMO) to ensure the project is effectively tracked and monitored within VAA reporting tools.

About you

In addition to the above, we’re looking for our successful Project Manager to demonstrate the following:
• Experience of end to end Project Management or equivalent
• A formal qualification as a Project Manager e.g. PRINCE2, APMP or PMP would be an advantage
• Significant track record of successfully delivering high value worth Projects which have delivered the agreed business benefits
• Exceptional planning skills – being able to plan for multiple features, across multiple components, with multiple skill sets as well as being able to plan for increases or decreases in team capacity
• Substantial and demonstrable experience of management of third- party suppliers, including offshore services
• Experience of working effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels within an organisation
• Strong team player with the ability to work with a variety of professionals from different disciplines to successfully deliver Projects
• Experience of controlling Project finances to tight budgets
• Experience of working within a diverse and complex organisation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
