Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday 
Location: Hybrid remote working with 3 days a week in our VHQ Crawley, West Sussex 
Contract: 6-month contract

In a nutshell

We have a fantastic opportunity to lead a small, specialist admin and advisory team to deliver end-to-end payroll support services.

The role is responsible for the processing of payroll accounting and reconciliation activities. Playing a pivotal role in the continuous review of all payroll processes, policies, and compliance. Identifying risks and control gaps and applying remediation. 

Day to day

  • Leads a team of 5, supporting them to collaborate with Operations Leaders to problem solve and exchange information to maintain effective internal communication
  • Accountable for collaborating and communicating with colleagues and leaders to facilitate Payroll workstream planning
  • Supervise the process standardisation agenda for all payroll activities, ensuring that a robust control environment is maintained
  • Support projects to identify improved ways of supporting the delivery of an outstanding payroll service and creating a highly transparent and collaborative service
  • Support the collation of data and preparation of reports
  • Continually drive process improvement (speed, quality and cost), delivering strategic improvements for deployed processes and standardise the payroll offering
  • Ensuring that payroll is signed off in line with required regulation, compliantly, accurately and timely

About you

We're seeking someone with a proven understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and dependencies both in the UK and Internationally. 
  • Demonstrable ability to drive process governance detailed focus on controls and compliance - including an understanding of all legislation
  • People leadership experience with a patient, encouraging approach to training, teaching, and supporting others 
  • Ability to diagnose root causes of problems and 'needs' rather than wants, to coach and influence accordingly
  • Experience with Oracle, Microsoft O365 suite, ADP Payroll, Benefex, Business Objects all an advantage
  • High attention to detail proficient in working with and manipulating large, complex datasets, and can spot data issues with ease
  • Ability to plan own workload and balance and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced department
