In a nutshell
In this role you will lead the People Systems, Payroll and HR Services teams to deliver a truly Virgin people experience at every touchpoint. You will maximise the engagement, contributions and effectiveness of your large and diverse team, designing, delivering and managing all operational people processes and services.
You and your teams will support and enable the successful delivery of People team projects, products and services, in addition to wider business projects.
Day to day
With strong influencing and relationship-building skills, you’ll be engaging others and securing commitment across a variety of People and business stakeholders (eg Technology, Treasury, PMO, Operational leads etc.) without direct leadership responsibility.
You’ll deliver efficient, customer-focused and effective first-line HR and Payroll services to our employees and managers, ensuring the correct checks and controls are in place.
You’ll measure service delivery across all channels, identifying trends, impacts and opportunity areas in order to recommend solutions and refine our approach across the People team.
You and your teams will support and enable the successful delivery of People team projects, including cyclical projects such as the annual pay cycle, Virgin Group reporting, tax year end, engagement survey data etc.
You’ll champion innovation and a relentless focus on continuous learning and improvement, by measuring, designing, testing and implementing process and efficiency improvements, and enhancing our communications suite (letters, packs, forms and resources) to ensure that these continually reflect our tone of voice, visual identity, employer brand and people strategy.
Do you have proven leadership experience with large operational teams? Are you a strong people leader with exceptional coaching, feedback and team development skills? Are you passionate about motivating your team and gaining positive results with a ‘hands on’ approach?
We are looking for someone who has a people focused mindset, along with the ability to influence others to best respond to customer needs. This is a fast paced and busy role therefore you will need a high level of drive, enthusiasm, tenacity and resilience.
Ideally, you will have generalist HR or people management grounding, and a working knowledge of employment law. You will be comfortable balancing competing priorities at pace, and assimilating complex policy and process details quickly.
With an analytical and commercial mindset, you will have experience of continuously improving processes, teams and data to deliver better value for our people or customers. We need you to be fully proficient with Powerpoint, Excel and Word and if you have experience in technology tools such as Microsoft 365 suite, Docusign, Chatbots and Aspect this would be advantageous.
