In a nutshell

As Head of Learning you will be part of People Leadership team and will report into the VP People Experience where you'll lead, inspire and motivate a team to deliver an innovative and best in class learning strategy. You'll be responsible for creating a framework for modern and accessible learning – both general capabilities and across our operational and customer facing training, whilst playing a key role in changing the way we train, develop and grow our people


Day to day

Set the learning strategy to deliver our programme within our new Learning Philosophy
Lead the Learning team to focus on increased digitalisation, accessibility and best in class product
Ensure our learning offering is focused on what matters and its impact is measured
Be seen as an influencing voice on learning and growth of our people
Influence the senior leadership team to drive a distinct difference in behaviour across Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays. Seen as role model for this.
Lead the learning team to ensure we deliver a compliant and robust operational programme for our crew and operational areas which is in line with our broader learning philosophy
Ensure all internal and external audits are completed and passed Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the learning management team
Lead the design and develop an end to end management development offering which provides effective and on-going development for our people leaders population
Build and maintain the appropriate models / frameworks to support the strategy, ensuring that the latest thinking is applied.
Set the professional development strategy to ensure it aligns with our core offering and is supportive of our business objectives
Own the supplier relationships and ensure they are delivering within our learning philosophy within an overall cost envelope
Ensure our personal development strategy and implementation is measured for effectiveness and returns value for money
Lead and own strategy for vocational and government funding qualifications, working across both VAA and V-Hols to agree approach and implementation
Provide guidance, coaching and support to the Apprenticeship Manager and his small team on the Apprenticeship strategy for VAA and V-Hols.


About you

Do you have proven experience of transforming a learning function and implementing best in market solutions with strong understanding of modern approaches to learning and development? Are you naturally curious with an insatiable quest to learn and improve? Then this could be the role for you
Alongside the above we're looking for the following to be successful in this role:
* Significant experience in setting strategy and leading a high performing team
* Experience taken face to face learning and driving a more digital offering to the business
* Educated to degree level or equivalent/CIPD qualification or extensive experience in L&D/OD
* Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management with the ability to influence at all levels
* Knowledge of Government funding opportunities
* High level of personal drive, curiosity and ambition to deliver a world class product
* Tenacious and able to drive things to delivery and completion
