Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri 09:00 - 17:30 (although open to discussion)
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Working Capital this role is responsible for the project management and progress initiatives that facilitate the development of the Working Capital function, as well as providing ad-hoc project support to other members of the team. In addition to this, the Manager will maintain the relationship with our outsourced provider, WNS.
In a nutshell
You’ll work alongside the Senior Manager, Working Capital to help drive forward the Working Capital strategy and to raise the profile of the department by providing meaningful reporting which will ultimately contribute to the Business. You’ll find chances to create continual improvements to controls and efficiencies, as well as opportunities for Working Capital to contribute to the wider business. You’ll also stay close to the Finance Systems roadmap and management of BAU technology activity, to ensure that system changes to eliminate inefficiencies and manual processes are progressed and implemented.
Deputising for the Senior Manager, Working Capital where necessary, you'll also work closely with the rest of the Working Capital Management team, and whilst you’ll have no direct reports, you will contribute towards building a high quality, engaged team. You’ll also need to build upon and demonstrate relationships across the wider Finance department, as well as the rest of the business, in order to deliver the in-flight projects.
A significant part of the role will be managing the delivery of ongoing projects alongside other Working Capital managers. By identifying risks, challenging assumptions, providing reporting where required and facilitating discussions, you will drive projects forward in order to successfully deliver on time and to plan. Projects deliverable in 2019/2020 are likely to include (but not limited to), integration of Travelbox to Oracle, implementation of Payment cards, the transition of Virgin Holidays Fraud checks to the central security team as well as Finance wide projects which may extend beyond the scope of Working Capital.
Day to day
As well as project work, the manager will lead on the relationship and contract management activity with WNS, holding regular meetings with operational leadership to review performance, ensuring that SLAs and critical metrics are reported in an accurate and timely fashion, supporting the delivery of improvement initiatives, facilitating training visits, and managing the transition and cessation of activities in partnership with the rest of the Working Capital management team.
In addition, the manager will ensure the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of departmental reporting, working with the Working Capital management team to ensure regular critical metric reports and dashboards are prepared and submitted within agreed timescales, and conducting benchmarking and market reviews to ensure reporting is focused on the most effective indicators.
The manager will lead on the governance and controls within the Working Capital team, acting as the main conduit for internal and external audit reviews, coordinating system access reviews, assisting with the preparation and review of monthly reconciliations, and ensuring the Financial Accounts controls database is regularly populated and updated.
To be successful in this role you will have outstanding communication skills and be able to engage with a wide range of partners at different levels within the business in order to achieve their agreement and influence decision making. You’ll have good knowledge of audit controls and financial governance, and ideally have an accounting background (AAT, ACCA or equivalent). You will also have strong analytical skills and automation experience.
We are looking for someone with excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivery, who is able to manage, motivate and communicate with staff effectively, including culturally and geographically diverse teams. You’ll also have the ability to quickly and seamlessly re-prioritise tasks when an unforeseen issue arises, whether this is IT, people or project related.
