Location: The VHQ, Crawley (expectations 2-3 days per week in the office)
Contract: 12 Month Secondment

In a nutshell

Looking for a new and different challenge? Our Cashbook Accounting team are now recruiting for a Finance Analyst for a 12-month secondment/FTC. This role will support the delivery of accurate and timely Financial and Management accounts (core to decision making) being responsible for completion of assigned areas within the Trial Balance of the VAL Group.

An exciting part of this role is highly geared towards process improvement, working with a project team to deliver transformation in the way Virgin reconciles its Sales to Cash. This will require working closely with data engineers, revenue accounts analysts as well as briefing the Head of Group Operational Accounting to deliver this game changing project.

Supporting the project team, you will be providing detailed analysis of each of our payment provider transaction and payment files. You will support validation of various outputs from data engineers to ensure each Payment Provider’s transactions have been successfully matched to our internal system transactions. You will work with the team to resolve bugs/exceptions, and come up with innovative solutions to matching issues, as well as developing manual matching and exception reporting capabilities.


Day to day

Our Cashbook Analyst is responsible for:

Global bank reconciliations
• Reconcile bank accounts as assigned, and ensure that all postings are complete and accurately coded to GL.
• Ensure that reconciling items are resolved within an appropriate timeframe through collaborating with AP/Treasury etc.
• Follow up and coordinate with relevant partners for outstanding reconciling items.

Sales to Cash Project

Data Analysis:
• Analysis of Payment Provider data and files for Sales, Refunds, Chargebacks and Fees.
• Completion of mapping from Payment Provider files to Sales to Cash solution tables.
• Analysis of Internal Data for Sales, Refunds, Chargebacks and Fees (to allow for the development of matching logic).
• Validation of project solution matching tables to ensure these are operating in line with expectations

Other Project & BAU Responsibilities:
• Highlight any system or procedural issue that may impede the reconciliation/risk identification process.
• Active participation in project meetings and in development of the Power BI Sales to Cash dashboard, along with demonstrating a ‘can do’ approach to overcoming blockers.
• Continuously improve financial accounting integrity and efficiency through the review of existing policies, procedures and controls as required.
• Provide ongoing support by participating in other projects or taking ownership of smaller projects as required (e.g., bank account rationalization and reconciliation automation).


About you

Do you have operational accounting skills with an aptitude for learning new processes?

In addition to the above:

• Ability to articulate technical transactional processes.
• Experience in account analysis, reconciliation, and foreign currencies.
• Inquisitive with the ability to challenge and improve processes.
• Proven capability to prioritize work, with a strong focus on delivery.
• Attention to detail with a very high level of accuracy.
• Highly Analytical, and proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel to interpret and identify issues in large data sets.
• Ability to communicate with peers, being able to explain complex processes in a succinct way.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to distil complex processes into clear, simple messages.
• Flexible, positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
• Ability to complete double entry bookkeeping and Oracle entry – understanding of bank reconciliations.
