In a nutshell

In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Finance Business Partners in providing accurate and meaningful data for managing the financial performance and decision making process and you will actively challenge and influence the business unit and assist them in finding solutions.

You will assist the Business Partner in driving increased business support including process change and the delivery of financial and non-financial targets, working closely with key stakeholders and across directorates. You will also be responsible for the financial planning, reporting and analysis of your Business Unit. Day to day

As an integral part of the Business Unit ensuring that operational decisions are made with Finance involved, you will provide a single point of contact for Virgin Atlantic Finance, Business Directors and the Senior Management team.

Managing & reporting monthly results, understanding and explaining variances including risks & opportunities, you will drive and monitor progress towards the achievement of targets, proposing and championing any necessary corrective actions to ensure delivery.

You will support the Finance Business Partners to align and identify synergies across the Virgin Holidays FBP function and across Directorates.

Help produce the annual Finance Plan and Business Plans for the Business Unit and ensure functions understand and own the plan for their areas

Ensuring that all major business decisions are taken with sufficient understanding and buy-in to the financial consequences, you will provide input and challenge into decision making from both a business and financial perspective.

Leading the finance support for the Business Units' project portfolio and establishing effective internal controls within the business.

About you

With experience in the provision of finance support in a commercial environment and close to completing a relevant professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), you will have sound knowledge of budgetary control, business/financial planning and strong technical accounting skills. Cognos & Business Objects experience is desirable.

A proven capability to prioritise work, work under pressure and deliver to high standards as well as the ability to devise and follow through on profit improvement programmes is also required. A strong influencer, you will have great written and verbal communication skills and an ability to distil complex information into clear messages.

With the ability to develop and support the delivery of challenging business strategies, you will have excellent planning, organisation and delegation skills as well as being a team player with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally to help us achieve our objectives.
