In a nutshell

This is a fantastic opportunity for a versatile project engineer looking to be involved in the management of the highest value assets in the company by joining the Aircraft Programmes and Asset Management Team.

The role works in a dynamic environment coordinating all activities to successfully manage our aircraft & cabin assets from specification through to delivery. You would continue to provide support during the period of ownership / operation.

You will organise multiple projects at the same time liaising with and instructing other Engineering departments as well as departments across the wider airline to ensure each project is completed on time and within budget.

You will also liaise with various external parties from maintenance organisations and suppliers, including our lessors and financiers. 

Day to day

Ensure projects are delivered on time and budget, all while considering wide ranging risks and opportunities.

Build and maintain relationships with other departments within Virgin Atlantic and external parties such as our aircraft lessors, suppliers and airframe OEMs.

Multi-task on various assignments and projects over different timelines and react to evolving scenarios, this could be anything from a cabin retrofit programme, a new fleet programme, or an aircraft end of lease return to name a few.

Continuously monitor and manage progress against project deliverables.

Understand an interpret technical, commercial and legal documents to be a guide to others and create best practise, in an agile and changing environment.

Show insight to find tangible risks and issues in technical, commercial, and financial situations and propose solutions to overcome these to ensure our Fleet of assets is managed to the highest standard.

The role will develop a candidate, building on their existing skills and attributes. 

About you

To succeed in your application, you will have a professional qualification in Aircraft Engineering or equivalent experience with at least 2 years relevant commercial aviation experience in a Part M organisation/MRO, plus an understanding of the broader regulatory requirements including UK CAA, EASA and FAA.

You will have a good understanding of Aircraft Engineering within the Part 145, Part CAMO and Part 21 environments.

You will have hunger for problem solving and implementing project management principles.

You will have a thirst to be involved in complex and high value projects helping to shape the airline in a significant way. 

A prior knowledge of Aircraft lease agreements and/or supplier contracts is advantageous but not essential. 

Prior project management experience is desirable but not essential, as on the job training will be provided. 

Attributes such as being highly driven, self-motivated, and a high performer are essential.
