In a nutshell

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Engineer – Programmes and Configuration, reporting to the Programmes and Reliability Manager, to join our Virgin Atlantic (VAA) Engineering department. This role is responsible for co-ordination, future development and growth of VAA’s scheduled maintenance programmes and the implementation and compliance of the company aircraft configuration standards and policies. You will work alongside our fleet subject matter expert Development and Reliability engineers in order to maintain your assigned fleet to the highest standards of performance. The Programmes and Configuration Engineer also supports aspects of the delivery of an Integrated Maintenance & Reliability Programme in order to enhance safety, maximise reliability & optimise maintenance costs of the VAA Fleet as specified by CAA / EASA Part M regulations.

Day to day

Ensure control and management of the updating and approval of the Aircraft Maintenance Schedule

Advise and support the compilation of the Approved Maintenance Programmes process, control, efficiency and cost effectiveness

Ensure creation of fully defined tasks for Modifications and maintenance programme tasks

Project manage the optimisation of the Maintenance Programmes Design, build, monitor and maintain Aircraft Configurations and provide expertise for the operation and development of the VAA fleets

Configuration control system Control and co-ordinate the Modification proposals process for embodiment to VAA Aircraft, from departmental assessment through approval, including the creation and revision of fully defined tasks, the updating of Allowable Configurations and modification control.

Define new aircraft, power plants and component configurations, maintain and update allowable configuration within defined rules

In addition to the above other duties include:

Actively review department business processes to ensure they are current

Technical assessment and quality audit of incoming documentation

Assist with aircraft entry into service and returns

Work as part of a multi task team, assist and support the requirements of Engineering to comply with all aspects of EASA regulations whilst ensuring fleet availability

Represent Virgin Atlantic Airways as a member of the Industry Steering Committee (ISC)

About you

You will have experience in working in aircraft configuration, reliability or maintenance programme management (or similar), you’ll be qualified to HNC/HND level (or equivalent) with a detailed understanding of maintenance programmes and their development. You will also have a good knowledge of Boeing/Airbus aircraft systems and their functionalities and CAA/EASA regulations.

Ideally you’ll have working knowledge of technical aircraft and vendor documentation including maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and technical drawings. You will be highly motivated and you will be able to work unsupervised as part as a multi skilled team with the ability to seek advice when required. Experienced in running projects and working to deadlines, you’ll be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills.
