In a nutshell

We are looking for a Company Aviation Physician who will provide specialist aviation medicine and general OH Physician services to support Occupational Health delivery of services and objectives as defined and as revised as necessary.

Day to day

Undertake clinical assessments in circumstances which justify physician involvement. Clinical assessments may include CAA Class One pilot medicals and casework, EASA cabin crew initial and renewal assessments, fitness to operate decisions for all flight and cabin crew, LGV/PCV medicals.
General occupational health physician duties including management referrals and recording of work related ill health, diagnosis for health surveillance (e.g. skin, noise, vibration, respiratory) and others as the need arises.
To support the OH nursing and administrative team by providing OHP and specialist aviation medicine advice as the need arises, especially on issues related to fitness to fly.
To maintain professional proficiency and support ongoing specialist accreditation with SEQOHS
Ensure aviation medicine specialist information and delivery is fit for purpose, compliant with all current legislation and communicated to all relevant areas of the business i.e. Pilot Management, Pilot Training, Learning and Development, Internal Communications etc
Advise on planning for the implementation of any future legislation, challenges or initiatives ie EASA, IATA, CAA etc.
Advise on aviation medicine issues to management groups and safety groups as required and act as primary interface between pilots, pilot management and OH with identification of pilot specific health issue and public health promotion.
Deliver other defined projects as determined by the Head of Health Services or as agreed within the Health Services Management Team.
Support the Passenger Health team in all aspects of aviation medicine including “fitness to fly” and medical clearance considerations for passengers.
You may be required to provide out of hours advice and service provision in the event of an emergency or critical business need.

About you

Do you have proven experience in the examination of Professional Pilots? Are you an expert in making “Aeromedical disposition” decisions? Then this could be the role for you!
As a minimum level of experience and qualifications:
* GMC Registered Medical Practitioner
* Experience in Occupational Medicine.
* Eligible for appointment by UK CAA for CAA Class 1 Flight Crew medicals
* Fully compliant with all aspects of GMC Good Medical Practice
Alongside the above we're looking for the following to be successful in this role:
* Confident and proficient in OH practice
* Experienced and proficient in report writing.
* Great interpersonal skills. Clear communicator.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to build good working relationships with all levels of the business.
* Ability to adapt and develop working practices in lines with the changing needs of the business whilst maintaining compliance with current legislation and best medical practice.
* Ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team
* Computer literate to include knowledge of standard company software (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Dragon etc.).
* People management skills, empathetic and excellent listener
* High level understanding of Data Protection Act/Equality Act/Confidentiality
