In this role, you will be part of a newly established team providing crucial insight into Virgin Atlantic Cargo’s Revenue Optimisation function. Working on a rotation through the disciplines of Pricing, Inventory and Process you will be eager to learn, solve problems and play a fundamental role in our continued success.


Day to day

Pricing and Competitiveness

You will be monitoring price, strategic movements and our competitiveness in the market through analysis of route and competitor activity, sharing the insights gained and making recommendations to ensure our market positioning is optimal.

Own and develop mechanisms and tools which enable the continuous evaluation and benchmarking of our short and long term price components, customer commitments and delivery against their commitments.

Responsible for coordinating internal inputs and external responses to RFPs received from customers.

Responding to internal customer queries on pricing set up, identifying process improvements

Inventory

You will be responsible for analysing and updating the Cargo Capacity we have on sale, communicating with key stakeholders on any issues foreseen and taking any actions required to ensure the capacity we release on sale is optimal.

Conducting a monthly review of inputs that are key to ensuring capacity is forecasting as accurately as possible.

Systematically looking at historic departures to understand deviants to forecast as well as levels of spillage and spoilage - providing insights and recommendation on how we reduce all three measures.
Delivering recommendations to Revenue Optimisation Managers on inventory flexors (overbooking or capping inventory).
Process

Performing data extraction, manipulation and analysis as a step to producing analytical tools for the wider Revenue Optimisation department. Assisting with the development of departmental performance indicator methodology and reporting.

Monitoring and evolving the effectiveness of the inputs and outputs from the Cargo Revenue Management system, introducing efficiencies wherever possible and educating the wider team on any systems or process anomalies and relevant alternative actions.

You’ll be the Lead Salesforce.com representative with the Revenue Optimisation team, responsible for data integrity and process evolution.

Overseeing our outsourced resource with respect to all activity related to Cargo’s Revenue Optimisation function and their performance against agreed KPIs.

Coordinating with stakeholders to deliver seasonal capacity and rating agreements on time and to the required level of accuracy.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in statistics, economics, aviation or business with strong emphasis on analysis or pricing. With practical working experience of MS Office, you will have advanced knowledge and practical application of Excel. In addition you will be familiar with Business Objects, SQL, TM1 or equivalent MIS solutions. Working knowledge of Salesforce.com would be advantageous.
